I lost my license key

Your key was shown on the page after you paid, with buttons to save it or email it to yourself. If you no longer have it, email support@getwtfile.com from the address you used to buy, and we'll send it again.

Activating a license

Open wtfile and go to 설정 → 라이선스.
Paste your key (it starts with WTFILE1.) and click 활성화.

Activation needs an internet connection once. After that, wtfile works offline. A Pro license covers one computer; Business 5 and Business 10 cover five or ten.

Moving to a new computer

On the old computer, open 설정 → 라이선스 and choose Remove license from this PC…, then activate the same key on the new one.

If the old computer is gone or won't start, 여기에서 컴퓨터를 해제하세요. This works twice a year per license; after that, email us.

A file wasn't renamed

Open Activity or Review in wtfile: every file shows the reason it was left alone. The common ones:

Waiting in Review. wtfile wasn't sure enough to rename it on its own. Check the suggestion and approve it. Files found with Scan now always wait for approval, so a scan can't rename old files by surprise. Only new downloads are renamed automatically.
Low confidence. The document didn't give a clear date, sender or type, so wtfile left the name alone rather than guess.
No readable text. Scanned documents and images without text need Pro, which reads them with Windows' built-in text recognition. Photos from a camera are named by the date they were taken.
Free renames used up. The free version renames 25 files. Suggestions keep coming and wait in Review until you upgrade.
Monitoring is paused, or the file is in a folder wtfile doesn't watch. Check the Dashboard.

After an update, use Retry on a Review item to read it again with the latest version.

A file got the wrong name

Open Activity and click Undo rename to put the original name back. If you can, tell us what kind of document it was and what name it got (not the document itself), so we can improve the rules.

“Windows의 PC 보호”

Windows shows this for new apps it hasn't seen many times yet. Click 추가 정보를 클릭한 다음 실행. The installer is the same file served from getwtfile.com.

Updates

Updates are free for life. wtfile checks for a new version once a day and offers it in the app; you can also click Check now in Settings → Updates. Updates are signed, and wtfile verifies each one before installing it. If you installed the very first version (0.1.0), download the latest version once; after that, updates arrive in the app.

Using wtfile with Claude or another AI assistant

Pro can let an AI assistant that supports MCP (such as Claude Desktop) search the files wtfile has processed. Turn it on in Settings → AI assistant connector; the app shows the exact settings to paste into the assistant. Document text and actions stay off unless you turn them on.

Email support@getwtfile.com within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, no questions asked.

Uninstalling

Use Windows Settings → Apps. Files keep the names wtfile gave them.

wtfile reads your files on your computer and never uploads them. See the privacy policy for the details.

Reporting a problem or crash

In wtfile, open Settings → Diagnostics and click Report a problem…. If wtfile ever closes unexpectedly, it offers to send a report the next time it opens. Either way, you see exactly what's included before anything is sent: folder paths, file names, email addresses and license keys are replaced with placeholders, and document contents are never included. Nothing is sent unless you click Send.
