The app

• wtfile reads your documents on your computer. Document contents are never sent anywhere, and document text is never stored; only the details used in a name (such as a date or total) are kept in a database on your computer.
• There is no account, no telemetry and no analytics in the app.
• Once a day, wtfile checks getwtfile.com for updates. That request includes the app version, your operating system and processor type. Like any web request, it reveals your IP address to our host. You can turn update checks off in Settings → Updates.
• Activating a license sends the license key and an anonymous computer ID (a scrambled code made from your computer's ID, not your name or files) to getwtfile.com, once. We keep that ID with your license to count how many computers use it. Removing the license from a computer sends the same two things to free its place. While a purchased license is active, wtfile sends the same two things once a day to confirm the computer still holds its place (for example, that the order wasn't refunded). If getwtfile.com can't be reached, nothing changes and wtfile keeps working offline.
• Problem reports are sent only when you click Send, after wtfile shows you exactly what's included: the app version, your operating system, technical details of the error, recent log lines and a few settings. Folder paths, file names, email addresses and license keys are replaced with placeholders first, and document contents are never included. If you add a note or your email address, those are sent too. We keep reports for 90 days.
• Starting the Pro trial sends the same anonymous computer ID to getwtfile.com once, so each computer gets one trial. We keep that ID with the date the trial started.
• If you turn on the AI-assistant connector, the assistant you connect can read the details wtfile has stored. If that assistant is a cloud service, what it reads goes to its provider under its own privacy policy.

This website

• No cookies, no advertising or analytics trackers.
• We count how many times per day key buttons are used (downloads, Buy buttons, sign-ups). These are totals only: no IP addresses, nothing tied to a person.
• Your light/dark choice is saved in your own browser.
• The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site.

Email sign-ups

If you leave your email address, we store it with the list you joined and your language, and use it only to email you about wtfile. Ask us at hello@getwtfile.com to see or delete it.

Purchases

• Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
• From Stripe we receive your name, email address, country, what you bought and the amount. We store your license ID with that record so we can reissue your key or help with your order.
• Your license key is emailed to you through our email provider, Resend.
